Power Hour Homework Help is one of #bgcrv's most attended programs! In 2019, more than 800 kids did their homework at the Club and received help with reading, math, and science. Ross Dress for Less is raising funds to help with this important program! Through Sunday, February 23rd, you can donate at the register and show your support for helping local youth learn. We'll see you at Ross (Grants Pass and Medford)!

Thank you Ross and a huge thanks to your customers!

Another amazing visit with Grandma Boom (Janai Mestrovich) today at #bgcrvTalent! Here's what she had to say about today's lesson:

All those waving arms came with loud voices in the first photo. The children were trying to purposely distract me from focusing on one thing at a time. They learned they could not control me with their distractions because I was calm and focused. When we are tense, it is hard to focus. Research shows that 25% of classroom time is spent dealing with distractions. Children need focusing skills to cope instead of losing that valuable time.

Every child received a ball with basket pipe to keep and practice being focused and not letting distractions keep us from our focus. First we took slow, deep belly button breaths, We relaxed tense muscles, then sang the Calming Song. Next we drummed and sang our new FOCUS song: "WHEN
I FOCUS ON ONE THING AT A TIME, I KNOW I'M SMART AND FEEL MIGHTY FINE! SUPERKIDS!!!!"

The children did artwork to show the difference between allowing others to distract us and staying calm and focused with how we feel about ourselves when we do either of those. I also gave each child a sticker button for a control switch they placed on their heart areas to push and remind themselves to take control and stay focused.
