“Team Sports is an exciting time in a child’s life. Sports teach teamwork, discipline and the benefits of hard work. Most importantly, children should have fun, meet lifelong friends and learn life skills that will benefit them for the rest of their life. I have been involved with the Sports Programs at Boys & Girls Clubs for over seventeen years. My goal has always been for our young athletes to have a positive experience in our programs. I grew up in the Puget Sound area of Washington and I am a graduate of Washington State University. I moved to Oregon in 1991 and have adopted the Oregon Ducks after many years of close relationships with the Duck Coaching Staff. Please stop by and say hello! I look forward to seeing you at some of our Sporting events!”

Anthony Del Toro
Former Club Member, referee and two-time 1st Team All State Defensive Tackle for Grants Pass High School
“For me, it all started with Boys & Girls Club Sports” says two-time 1st Team All State Defensive Tackle Anthony Del Toro. Anthony’s dream in 2nd grade at Fort Vannoy Elementary School was to become a high school football star. And he did. Having fun with flag football in second grade, Anthony continued on to play tackle football and basketball, repeating to himself, “Dream Big. Work Hard.” On the high school football team, Anthony stayed committed to the Club by refereeing football and basketball, admitting he “loved having fun with the little kids.”
Anthony credits Boys & Girls Club Sports to more than improving his athletic fundamentals. He feels it helped him transition from the North Valley area to Grants Pass High School. “I didn’t know anyone from GP, but some kids remembered me from Club Sports and made me feel part of the team right away.”
Anthony’s hard work on and off the field paid off. He received a full-ride scholarship to Portland State and will start this fall, with plans to become a Physical Therapist. Anthony tells his youngest fans, “Just have fun in Club Sports and always follow your dreams.”
