Exploring the Outdoors – Grants Pass Summer Program

Kids and their parents were lined up outside at seven in the morning last Monday, anxiously waiting for the doors to open. This could only mean one thing, the first day of our Summer Program. Over 130 kids checked in, and by the next day that number was up to 170. It was a good thing that a lot of exciting activities were planned around our theme, “Exploring the Outdoors.”

We spent a lot of time outdoors with the kids last week. They spent time working in the garden, participating in water games on the grass, playing soccer and other games in the field, and of course plenty of time romping around on the playground (though there was some time spent indoors watching the World Cup on the big screen in the game room).

There was also opportunity to enjoy the outdoors away from the club. On Wednesday we took the kids to the Rusk Ranch and explored their Butterfly Pavilion. There were many different kinds of butterflies for the kids to observe.

On Thursday, we took the kids to explore a couple of the beautiful parks that Grants Pass has to offer. They played on the playground at Riverside Park and walked the bridges at the All Sports Park.

Friday’s fishing trip was quite the adventure. The kids had a great time by the pond with their poles in hand as the excitement of catching a fish loomed in the air!

Needless to say, the first week of summer was full of surprises, fun, and adventure. It was great to welcome back summer kids as well as spend more time with school year kids. For the remainder of the summer, we’re looking forward to seeing more kids and more fun! Click here to learn more about our Summer Program!
