What a fantastic week! The Talent Club celebrated National Boys & Girls Club Week March 24th – 28th with fun-filled activities packed into each day of our spring break week. We also used this week to create awareness of our Club in Jackson County. Here’s a quick photo review of our week (click here to watch our video recap)!
Monday: Open the Door to Education
We filled Monday with educational activities such as math relay races, a scavenger hunt and a science experiment making slime (which the kids LOVED!).
Tuesday: Open the Door to Arts
Our kids got creative and made stepping stones with shells, colored glass and other sparkling objects. We also had a group of kids visit our Grants Pass Club for the annual Games Room Tournament (click here to read more about the Games Room Tournament).
Wednesday: Open the Door to Character and Citizenship
A small group of our older kids went to Jackson County Refuel where they helped chop wood and sort piles to help low income families heat their homes. The kids who stayed at the Club did a community cleanup and picked up trash around the Club grounds.
Thursday: Open the Door to Healthy Lifestyles
We got our exercise this day! We started with a two-hour hike on the Jacksonville Britt Trails, then headed back to the Club where the SOU Basketball Team held a two-hour mini-camp.
Friday: Open the Door. Come for a Tour!
We opened our blue door to the community for an open house. Everyone had a blast with the bounce house, face painting and an assortment of mini-programs:
- WILD had rock climbing and knot tying tutorials
- Healthy Habits made “ants on a log” snacks
- Arts had a station for making cookie-cutter bird feeders
